Medical Localization Case Study: RHAPSODO® (Novartis) by Fast Trans

Novartis is a Swiss multinational pharmaceutical company headquartered in Basel, Switzerland, focused on discovering and delivering innovative medicines. In this project, the Arabic materials had to sit comfortably within a global pharmaceutical brand system.

Project Overview

Novartis partnered with Fast Trans to localize the RHAPSIDO® (remibrutinib) Patient Starter Kit for Arabic-speaking patients. The supplied project materials show a connected set of patient resources covering treatment guidance, tracking, reminders, and support.

Six Connected Patient Resources

The supplied project set contains the following localized materials:

  • Patient Brochure — education about CSU, Rhapsido®, treatment, and practical support.
  • Starter Kit Folder — an overview of the resources included in the patient kit.
  • Family & Friends Guide — practical and emotional support guidance for people living with CSU.
  • Intro Letter — a welcome and orientation to starting treatment with Rhapsido®.
  • Patient Journal & Milestone Tracker — symptom, treatment, and appointment tracking.
  • Daily Dose Reminder — a practical adherence reminder for morning and evening medication.

THE CHALLENGE

Four Requirements Had to Stay Aligned

01  MEDICAL ACCURACY

Clinical terminology and meaning had to remain precise across all connected resources.

02  TERMINOLOGY CONSISTENCY

The same condition, treatment, and patient concepts needed consistent Arabic terminology.

03  RTL DESIGN LOCALIZATION

The approved visual language had to be adapted for right-to-left Arabic reading without losing structure.

04  PATIENT-FACING CLARITY

The target copy needed to be medically responsible while remaining clear and approachable.

OUR SOLUTION

An End-to-End Localization Workflow

Fast Trans approached the project as a controlled localization workflow: prepare terminology, translate, independently review, rebuild the design for Arabic, route the formatted files through client review, integrate feedback, and deliver the final kit.

01

Translation & Terminology Setup

Create the project glossary and translation memory, then translate the approved source content.

02

Linguistic Review & QA

Independent review for medical accuracy, language quality, consistency, and patient-facing tone.

03

DTP & RTL Formatting

Place the Arabic copy into the approved layouts and adapt the page architecture for right-to-left reading.

04

Client Review

Deliver formatted target files for Novartis review against the source materials.

05

Feedback Integration

Incorporate client comments and revisions in a controlled review cycle.

06

Final Delivery

Deliver the polished Arabic set as a consistent, production-ready patient kit.

BEFORE / AFTER

The Difference Is Visible

The source and target pages below demonstrate the actual localization work. The same RHAPSIDO® visual identity is retained, while the Arabic version is rebuilt for the target language and reading direction.

Sample 01 — Patient Brochure Cover

BEFORE — English source

AFTER — Arabic target

  • The approved photography and circular visual motif remain intact.
  • The Arabic headline and supporting text are repositioned within the same visual hierarchy.
  • Brand recognition is maintained across the English and Arabic versions.

Sample 02 — Patient Brochure Opening / Contents

BEFORE — English source

AFTER — Arabic target

  • The information hierarchy and numbered navigation are preserved.
  • Arabic content is formatted as an RTL reading experience rather than a simple text swap.
  • The target page remains visually aligned with the original brochure system.

DESIGN LOCALIZATION

Preserving Brand Identity While Adapting the Layout

Across the supplied English and Arabic materials, the localization work has to accommodate the original RHAPSIDO® visual system: blue and pink gradients, circular motifs, photography, iconography, page hierarchy, and brand marks.

  • Right-to-left reading flow adapted for Arabic.
  • Typography and text blocks rebalanced to fit Arabic expansion and hierarchy.
  • Brand imagery, graphics, and visual motifs retained.
  • Page numbering and navigation preserved within the localized structure.
  • Patient-facing readability maintained inside the approved design language.
